The salty air carries the faint scent of warm sea grass and mangroves, while the soft splash of your paddle and the distant calls of night herons create a soundtrack that’s both peaceful and wild. As fish dart beneath your boat, they leave glowing trails, and if you’re lucky, a manatee or dolphin may stir the water with a burst of light. You'll feel the warm breeze on your face, the cool splash of water on your hands, and an overwhelming sense of wonder and calm as nature puts on a show like no other. It's a truly unforgettable experience—one that stirs your senses, quiets your mind, and leaves you glowing inside and out.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — and we guarantee it! We go to the best location each night to give you the brightest possible experience. That said, bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon, and its intensity can vary. The most vivid displays usually happen between July and September on warm, dark nights—especially after a rainstorm or when there’s little moonlight. Bright moons or hazy skies can soften the glow, but you’ll still see the magic.
Yes! Most of our guests are first-timers. Our tours are suitable for all skill levels, and our knowledgeable guides will provide a full safety and paddling intro before launch. Additionally, our kayaks are stable and easy to maneuver, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Alligators avoid saltwater like Mosquito Lagoon. It’s extremely rare to see one on our route. Our experienced guides prioritize safety at every step.
We’re about an hour from most parts of Orlando, depending on traffic. It’s an easy drive east toward the coast, and we’ll send you exact directions after you book. Plenty of guests make the trip in a rental car or rideshare with no problem.
Florida weather can be unpredictable, especially in the evenings. Light rain? We usually paddle! But if there’s lightning, strong wind, or anything unsafe, we may delay, reschedule, or cancel. If it’s raining earlier in the day—don’t stress. It often clears up before launch. To be eligible for an activity credit or rebooking, please plan to wait out the first 1-hour weather hold.
The weight limit for our bioluminescence kayak tours typically ranges from 250 to 300 pounds per person, depending on the specific kayak model used for the tour. It's important to inquire about weight limits when booking.
We’ll help you in and out of the kayak. If you can walk a few steps and sit on the ground, we can likely accommodate you — just reach out first.
Most likely — yes! While we can’t promise specific sightings, this area is teeming with life. We often encounter manatees, dolphins, mullet fish leaping through the glow, and a variety of birds like night herons and owls. The Indian River Lagoon and Canaveral National Seashore are protected wildlife zones, so every paddle offers a chance to see something special. Just remember: wildlife is wild, and part of the magic is not knowing what might appear!
Yes, there are bathrooms at the launch site. During the paddle, we’re out in nature — plan ahead accordingly.
It's recommended to book your bioluminescence kayak tour as early as possible, especially during peak seasons like July and August when tours often sell out quickly. Booking in advance ensures you secure your preferred date and time for the tour.
The moon, stars, and glowing water light up the experience. Our guides are with you the whole time and it’s surprisingly peaceful.
Yes — and that’s something we’re truly proud of. We keep our tours small and personal to minimize our impact on the environment and give each guest a more meaningful experience. Our guides follow Leave No Trace principles, use ethical wildlife viewing practices, and are certified Guardian Guides with the Save the Manatee Club — a program dedicated to responsible, conservation-focused ecotourism. We also share insight into the local ecosystem and how guests can help protect Florida’s waterways long after the tour ends. So when you paddle with us, you’re not just enjoying nature — you’re helping preserve it.
All of our guides are certified and super experienced — and they genuinely love what they do. You’re in great hands.
We’re often asked if it’s appropriate to tip your tour guides and what a reasonable amount might be. While we’ve considered building gratuities into the tour cost, we believe that recognizing great service should always be a personal choice. If you feel your guide(s) provided an exceptional experience, gratuities are absolutely encouraged—and appreciated—at the end of the trip. A typical tip is 15–20% of your ticket price — about $12–$16 per guest — and it’s shared among the guides who led your trip.
If you purchased Trip Protection at checkout, you can cancel or reschedule your tour up to 8 hours before your tour's departure and receive a full refund, minus the cost of Trip Protection and processing fees. Without Trip Protection, you may cancel or reschedule up to 72 hours before your tour's departure to avoid fees. Refunds are not possible for cancellations within 72 hours of your tour's departure, however, we will make every effort to accommodate rescheduling your booking to another date.
We’d love to help! Simply call us at (407) 267-9950 if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Plan Your Tour

Moon phases can make a big difference in your bioluminescence experience. While glowing waters are visible throughout the season, darker nights around the new moon offer the most dramatic effect. Bright moonlight can soften the glow, but the experience is still magical—especially with comb jellies that sparkle even under a full moon.

Disclaimer

Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon caused by organisms like dinoflagellates, whose glow depends on factors such as water temperature, salinity, and pH. As such, brightness and visibility can vary nightly. The season for bioluminescent dinoflagellate typically runs from May to September, though exact dates may shift slightly each year. We monitor conditions closely to ensure the best possible experience and may occasionally change our tour location from Apollo Beach Ramp if needed.

Guide Qualifications

Your tour will be led by a trained, experienced professional with a solid guiding background, years of personal wilderness and kayaking experience, medical certifications, and a passion for leading people into breathtaking landscapes.

Emerald Cut Kayak Adventure

This crystal clear run is a paddle into the past, through land still as it was when the Timucuan tribes inhabited the area. Truly emerald in color this section of Rock Springs Run is a breathtaking natural beauty. It winds through lush jungle-like nature, sand pine scrub, and pine flatwoods. The area is rich in wildlife and it is possible to see turtles, alligators, river otters, white-tailed deer, black bears, fish, a variety of birds, and more. This is an out-and-back paddle. The first part your guide will lead you upstream over and under trees and through the twists and turns of the river until you reach the bridge at Kelle Park. At this point, you will have a chance to jump into the crystal clear river to play and/or to refresh yourself. Afterward, we let the current take us back to the launch point.
Important...Due to high demand and small group sizes, our tours sell out quickly. Lake Norris Explorer Kayak Tour

Lake Norris is a spectacular darkwater lake and is one of the oldest cypress swamps in Florida. The shoreline of the lake is ringed by “dwarf cypress”, which give the lake an out-of-this-world appearance. One of the special highlights of this property is its high concentration of osprey nests. More than 100 active nests have been reported in the cypress trees that ring the lake. A habitat for many animals and birds, this property expands the Florida black bear corridor. River otters, alligators, turtles, and various types of snakes call this place their home. While weaving between and through cypress trees many of these animals and birds can be observed. Join us on this magnificent experience featuring one of Florida’s most beautiful, hidden, and unheralded places. This is a Disneyland for nature lovers!
